Alright welcome back my fellow Asylum members to another edition of Hot Fire! Sorry for the small hiatus as I was dealing with health problems, and I think it was probably better if I didn’t review last week’s episode in the grand scheme of things anyways. Anyways, this is the second week from Mexico so without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Impact Wrestling September 6th 2019:
Havok vs Su Yung:
Winner: Havok (DQ)
LUKEWARM - This wasn’t as intense as it should have been, and Havok had control for a bit too long in my opinion. If we know that Havok is that much better than an undead ghoul like Su Yung, why would we want to see the feud continue? I did enjoy the fact that commentary played into it and said that Su has tons of tricks up her sleeve though. Ending it in a DQ is smart and I feel like the best way to address this feud would be to keep exchanging DQ’s and then have a big blowoff gimmick match at Bound For Glory.
- The North are preparing to say goodbye to LAX forever. They say they’ve been putting their careers on the line every single time so it’s nothing new. The difference between LAX and them however is that The North will only have one reign, and it will last forever. Very good promo from the tag team.
- Sami Callihan is in a suit and says he’s in a good mood as OVE will finally get what they want, an answer from Brian Cage regarding the World Title situation, either he relinquishes or he gets his ass beat. The Crist Brothers wonder if they have to wear a suit as well as Madman Fulton comes out and they hype Madman Fulton beating RVD.
Moose vs Fallah Bahh:
Winner: Moose
WARM - I enjoyed this match more than their first outing and was a perfectly suitable feud to keep Moose on TV while waiting for the big return of Ken Shamrock. I absolutely hated the fact that commentary didn’t even allude to the first match and didn’t even play into the fact that
maybe Bahh trained even harder to finally beat Moose but it is what it is. I don’t think Fallah Bahh needs to lose any more weight as his character and his look is perfectly marketable as is. Every roster needs a big man like Bahh so I hope he maintains his weight. The post match beatdown fell kind of flat for me but overall I enjoyed the match tremendously.
- Tommy Dreamer is chilling in the locker room when Tessa Blanchard storms in and tells Tommy she’s tired of Sami Callihan. Tommy Dreamer starts giving his usual ‘’inspiring, from the heart’’ wrestling speech but Tessa cuts him off and says that OVE will die, and asks him if he’s with her or not. He agrees. Tessa Blanchard doing the work for us fans. We don’t need to hear those speeches anymore.
- Alisha tells Eddie Edwards that she will never cheat on him. Eddie apologizes for his behaviour in the last few weeks but a lady comes and starts hitting on Eddie. Alisha slaps Eddie and walks off as Ace Austin shows up asking what’s wrong. He then calls Eddie a horrible human being and storms off with Alisha. These segments are the best thing on the show as I am always dying of laughter every time one of these come on to my TV screen.
TJP vs Golden Magic:
Winner: TJP
LUKEWARM - This was a perfect length for the match however it never really felt like this match got out of first gear and I was waiting for them to go crazy but it never happened. I also didn’t really like the flow to this match as it felt like they weren’t doing much to connect the big spots but the big spots worked fine enough. I’m glad that TJP got his win back and I hope he’s signed to Impact moving forward.
- Ace Austin is paying the lady who was flirting with Eddie as Alisha walks up. Ace Austin gets (fake) mad at the lady for doing such an atrocious thing and walks off with Alisha to prepare her for her match.
- Operation Override, Twitch Special this Friday and Victory Road, an Impact Plus Special, airing this Saturday.
- Impact Moment of the Week: AJ Styles vs Sting from Bound For Glory 2009.
- Taya is saying that the whole world should be talking about her since she’s the longest reigning Knockouts champion but everyone is talking about Tenille Dashwood. John E. Bravo suggests her dog to calm her down but Taya says they are in Mexico and he doesn’t fly economy. They should have a statue of her in front of the arena. She storms off before John E. Bravo can add anything else.
- Vignette for the debut of Johnny Swinger. A work out montage and a bit of flirting with the ladies. I hope… I pray this man is brought in just to put over talent.
- Jimmy Jacobs is interviewing Tenille Dashwood but before she can answer the first question, Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne interrupt. Rayne introduces herself as the locker room leader and promises there’s no heat. Kiera Hogan is mad that Tenille cut to the front of the line to go after the title and Madison says that next week Kiera will face Tenille. Simple but effective setup.
Madman Fulton vs RVD:
Winner: RVD (DQ)
COLD - Ugh, this match was going so good until the end. They need to build up Madman Fulton as he’s slowly losing steam in Impact. I was actually enjoying the match, you know… the legend gets a bit of offense and controls the match for a bit due to experience and then Fulton just destroys him but nope, Dave Crist came in for the DQ. And that hurts no one more than Fulton. This was just horrible booking and I hope they do something with Fulton soon.
- Jimmy Jacobs is waiting by Brian Cage’s locker room for an interview but Melissa Santos comes out and promises that everything will be said tonight.
- Wentz and Dez are mad at Trey for not getting the weed. Trey defends himself by saying he even worked for a chicken company to try and get it. Rich Swann and Willie Mack come in, talk about how they should concentrate on the tag title match tonight, and then bring up how they already defeated the Rascalz. They then take out the weed and everyone celebrates and it’s party time. This was one of the better Rascalz segments.
- The Desi Hit Squad are holding on for dear life to the back of a tractor that is going as slow as I can walk and yell to the Deaners to slow down. Afterwards, Gama Singh says they’re done but Rohit said he kind of liked the horses. Gama has a plan to never lose again and they go to the ‘’pool’’, which is a lake, and Gama throws Rohit into the water. I liked these farm segments.
- Jordynne Grace heads to Rosemary’s lair and tells her it’s time to return the favor. She stayed out of Rosemary’s business last time now it’s time for Rosemary to stay out of her business. Rosemary said it’s not her that decides, but the shadows that told her to save Grace.
- Konnan is pumping up LAX and warns everyone that it’s time to see the best tag team of Earth.
Impact Tag Team Titles vs Careers: The North vs LAX:
Winner: The North
FREEZING - That’s it? Really? It’s bad enough that the story coming into this Losers Leave match was very thin and poorly put together but they only get 12 minutes and the sendoff is just them crying in the ring? COME ON! This is LAX, one of the BEST tag teams that Impact has had in recent memory and this is all they do? The match was fine but it never really hit that next level of intensity and emotion I thought it would have for a match that has their careers on the line. Why didn’t they show LAX putting their flags on the ropes, the whole roster coming out, and so on and so forth? This whole segment and feud to send off LAX was a flop in my books. At least The North look strong in defeating LAX.
Brian Cage Addresses World Title Situation:
HOT - This was an excellent segment with Brian Cage making the match with Sami Callihan official for Bound For Glory. The proposal was also a nice touch (albeit they already had wedding rings on their fingers) and I hope that comes into play as Sami does his excellent heel work. I also hope that Sami brings up the fact that he ended Brian Cage’s undefeated streak last year on PPV but I wouldn’t put it past Impact not referencing it as it seems their attention span isn’t all that long. And also, they’re going to disregard the whole Elgin story of him chasing for the title as well? Besides that, great segment.
OVERALL:
LUKEWARM - The first hour and a half of this show was good and then it went flying off a cliff with the last two matches. Still a better show than last week but Impact has lots of booking and storyline issues to fix if they want their product to stand out. They need to push Madman Fulton more and LAX should have gotten a bigger sendoff. Next week has a pretty good card so hopefully it improves some more.
This Week’s Impact MVP:
LAX - Even though they got a bad send off, they are the MVP’s for carrying the tag division through the lows and the highs of the division in the last few years. They’ve had amazing string of matches from OVE to the OG’Z to the Lucha Bros and they basically accomplished everything they could in the company. I wish them the best.
