Hello guys and welcome back to another edition of Hot Fire! We are finally out of Mexico as we have our first episode from Las Vegas… the last location before Bound For Glory! This seems to be a storyline heavy episode so without further ado, let’s get right into it!
The Rating Scale:
HOT FIRE - Amazing/5 Stars
HOT - Great
WARM - Good
LUKEWARM - Okay/Decent
COLD - Bad
FREEZING - Horrible/1 Star
Impact Wrestling September 27th 2019:
Location: Sam’s Town, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Commentary: Josh Mathews & Don Callis
The North vs RVD/Rhino w/Konnan:
Winner: RVD/Rhino
LUKEWARM - This match was decent for what it is, but Konnan managing the ECW has beens is quite a bit of a step down, they should just keep Konnan with Daga. I guess this leads to the rumored three way tag match at BFG as RVD/Rhino defeat the champs and have a good argument to being #1 contender, although Rich Swann and Mack already were claimed to be #1 contender. The BS at the end kind of protects The North but not really, as they lost to old dudes.
Mahabali Shera vs Cousin Jake:
Winner: Mahabali Shera
LUKEWARM - Another good quick match for Shera here as Cousin Jake did manage to get some good offense is (as he’s the powerhouse of The Deaners) but not enough to match the power of Shera. Shera is good for these kind of roles so hopefully they keep him in them. The Desi Hit Squad beating down The Deaners after the match should hopefully put an end to the feud.
Tenille Dashwood vs Madison Rayne:
Winner: Tenille Dashwood
LUKEWARM - Ouch, Tenille got an extremely FLAT entrance. Wrestling fans were POLITELY cheering her like it was a theatre show or something. The match was okay, quite flat as I don’t really care about this. We already know where this is going but Impact need to do something quick to save the Tenille character as it’s just not clicking with fans. Especially if she stays past Bound For Glory, they need to slap a few band-aids on the whole Dashwood Project.
The Most Dangerous Men Ken Shamrock Arrives in Impact:
HOT - My god this whole segment was good, but that clip of Moose in the gym made this whole segment great. Shamrock showed a bit of enthusiasm and actually looked like he wanted to be there so that’s always a great plus. The promos and segments between these two have been good up to now and I’m glad that they’re keeping them away from each other. That final bit with Moose screaming through the MMA cage and saying he was the most dangerous man now was an AMAZING visual and now I’m pumped to see this match. Hopefully it delivers.
X-Division Title Ladder Match Qualifier: Tessa Blanchard vs Dave Crist:
Winner: Tessa Blanchard
COLD - I am completely DREADING the very obvious ending to this storyline as there’s no way Tessa Blanchard doesn’t win the X-Division title and cashes it in like some Money In The Bank briefcase, and then there’s NO WAY she loses to Sami. That’s killing… murdering… torturing 3 birds with one stone. Jake Crist’s potential goes out the window, the prestige of the X-Division title goes out the window and Sami Callihan actually being World Champion for any significant amount of time (like the majority of people want in the first place) goes out the window. They should just make the ladder match a singles match as the other 3 competitors in this match are irrelevant and useless. The match itself wasn’t even that good either. And don’t get me wrong, I love intergender wrestling, but Impact is not, and I repeat, NOT doing it right right now.
Brian Cage & Melissa Santos Wedding:
HOT - This was one of the better wrestling weddings and this was fun from start to bottom with tons of nods, puns, jokes and a serious ending to cap it off. I was invested from the minute it started to the minute it ended. I’m not sure in what way they’re heading with Sami now as he showed remorse after accidentally hitting Melissa but Sami can get heat like no other so I’m sure he will be set for Bound For Glory in that regard. This was a FANTASTIC segment and you should definitely go out of your way to catch the full thing.
OVERALL:
HOT - It’s obvious that we’re out of Mexico as this episode alone knocked out of the water all 3-4 episodes that aired from Mexico. The wedding and the Shamrock and Moose altercation are the definite highlights and this was one of the best Impact episodes of the year. This really gets me pumped for AXS as Don Callis and Scott Damore have both gone on record saying they’re holding back on Pursuit and those two segments were great. The BFG card seems pretty much set at this point but I hope that we hear a bit more about the Rascalz regarding their match at BFG as it seems very random right now, just any small reason to care is a good enough reason. Same with Elgin, he’s been off TV way too long. I’m starting to get pumped for the PPV.
This Week’s Impact MVP:
Jimmy Jacobs (?) - I know he’s no longer an on air talent but he’s reportedly the mastermind behind the whole wedding segments so how could I not make him MVP for the week? I just hope he doesn’t forget the coffee and donuts next time.
That’s it for another edition of Hot Fire! Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below! My name’s Fireguy and I’ll talk to you all a little bit later!

Impact Wrestling September 27th 2019:
Location: Sam’s Town, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Commentary: Josh Mathews & Don Callis
- Since this wasn’t advertised, I’ll explain what went down. LAX’s music hits but it’s The North who come out, with all the LAX get up, bandanas and flags. They mock the fans as they cheered them when they come out, as they cheer any moron who dresses like crap like LAX. They brag of getting rid of LAX and Konnan doesn’t have enough power to do anything about it. Konnan comes out, calls them gloryholes like only Konnan can and he says he has a surprise for both of them. RVD and Rhino come out and the match is on. Fantastic promo from The North here as Ethan Page is great on the mic. Josh Alexander doesn’t have to talk and that’s completely fine, Konnan has found his fire again as well.
- Gama Singh reminds Raj Singh and Rohit Raju that they are replaceable and he will send them back to India if they mess up one more time. He tells them they should be more like Mahabali Shera, as he has never failed him. This would have been a good time to bring up Gursinder Singh being sent back to India, it would have added more impact to the statement and more storyline continuity.
- Eddie Edwards is ready for the wedding, but here comes Reno Scum to put drugs in his drink and drag him off to go GET DRINKS WITH THE BOYS!
- Johnny Swinger arrives at the wedding and reminds everyone to catch him on ECW on TNN every week.
- TJP and Fallah Bahh arrive at the wedding, TJP gets mad at Bahh for wearing casual clothes and Bahh calls him a Korean Boy Band boy. As other guests arrive, Bahh goes back to Bahh’ing, and TJP tells him to use his words as Eddie Edwards comes stumbling onto the scene.
- Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes arrive at the wedding. Rich Swann and Mack arrive and congratulate RVD for defeating The North. Swann promises a tag title shot to RVD after they win the titles since they’re the #1 contenders. RVD then says that THEY will give Swann and Mack a tag title shot once they win because they just pinned the champs and they’re the #1 contenders. And so the match is set (basically)...
- Just announced, Taya Valkyrie defends her Knockouts Title against Tenille Dashwood at Bound For Glory. Damn.
- Taya Valkyrie meets with Rosemary and asks her to get rid of Tenille and she will get the BFG title shot instead. Rosemary refuses as this is the same scummy deal she made at Slammiversary and Taya should not be a coward and go into battle like a warrior. Taya gives Rosemary a dress to wear for the wedding but Rosemary throws it on the ground and yells. Pretty good interaction.
- OVE arrive at the wedding with a gift, but security kicks them out. Sami Callihan is mad.
- Brian Cage is talking with Rich Swann and Tommy Dreamer at the wedding. Dreamer tells Cage not to worry as he’s marrying the most beautiful person on Earth. Rich Swann says it’s a bond with a single girl forever. Dreamer says that isn’t true (chuckle) and Ryan Cage, Brian’s brother comes up and says he will be the minister for the ceremony.
- All the Knockouts are getting ready for the wedding in the bridesmaids room. Madison Rayne is trying to tell the girls how to act but Kiera Hogan reminds her she isn’t even a bridesmaid. Taya comes in and rants about Tenille Dashwood.
X-Division Title Ladder Match Qualifier: Tessa Blanchard vs Dave Crist:
Winner: Tessa Blanchard
