And just like that, Hot Fire is back. I decided to bring back this column to celebrate the debut of TNA on AMC. This will certainly be a pivotal moment for the company moving forward, and therefore, I wanted to document this night, which can then be looked back on in years to come to see exactly what has changed since they debuted. This is a huge night for TNA, years in the making. A long list of people has made it possible for the company to not only survive… but to grow and return to where it is today. And for someone who has been following TNA live ever since the short-lived stint of Wrestling Society X, I am really happy to see where they are today.

For the new people who have joined TNAsylum since the last time that I did one of these columns, it’s pretty simple. I will share my thoughts on the matches and segments during the show. No star ratings, but I do use a general gimmick system to help categorize my thoughts. See below.

I will make it clear from the jump that I have no idea if this column will be a one-off or here to stay. I plan on covering Genesis as well, as the first post-AMC PPV, but I think I have been pretty clear about my stance on the product. I believe it suffers from being perfectly okay, perfectly run-of-the-mill, and perfectly cookie-cutter in a current landscape of professional wrestling where you should be trying to stand out. I get it, you can’t let good be the enemy of perfect, but at the same time, you've got to give people a reason to tune in. If something drastically changes, and I start enjoying the product more as it escapes the monotony of being perfectly okay, I might start doing these columns more regularly.

If you are interested in making your own columns or even podcasts for the site, let me know. I am really interested in bringing back TNA Asylum Radio and having one of you on every week as a guest. With this sort of soft reboot of TNA, it would be fun to see this site come to life once again with columns, competitions, podcasts, etc.
Lastly, I hope you enjoy the read. Leave your thoughts on the episode in the comments, and let’s all celebrate this huge milestone for TNA as they finally make their return to a big network on television. It’s time for the TNA on AMC era to begin!

THE HOT SCALE:
FREEZING – Terrible/Awful
COLD – Bad
LUKEWARM – Average/Acceptable/Meh
WARM – Good
HOT - Great
HOT FIRE – Truly spectacular/Amazing/mind-blowing

Hot Fire: January 15th, 2026
Location: Curtis Culwell Center
Commentary: Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt

Video package on the debut of TNA on AMC.

The Return of AJ Styles
This segment was too short to be rated. Simple promo to kick off the show.

New intro. I am not a fan of the music. Nowhere near intense enough for a wrestling show.

The Hardys/Elijah vs Order 4 (Mustafa Ali/Jason Hotch/John Skyler)
Winners: The Hardys/Elijah
WARM – Even though most of it took place during the commercial break, it was a fun match and probably a smart way to start off the show with some recognized names. Not a fan of how quick Order 4 lost but since one of the jabronies got pinned, it is not as big of a deal.

Gia Miller interviews Frankie Kazarian. He says this is the biggest night in TNA history. AJ Styles comes in for the staredown. Frankie insults him and says he should thank him for the house. Styles thanks him. Seems like they are going in the direction that I assumed they would be going with this.

Video package on the X-Division and what it means to the company and to the wrestling world.

Vergil Ortiz Jr is in the crowd. Here are some IWC nerds. Eric Young is in the audience. AJ Francis is in the crowd too. For whatever reason. Gia Miller introduces the stars of AMCs show Dark Winds, the Night Patrol, Mara Sade and Candice Michelle (that’s pretty cool). Ryan Nemeth introduces and says he’s the bigger star. Ryan Nemeth tries to fight the actors but gets a nut shot on the barrier and then that’s it.
Recap of the ending of the Cage Match with Arianna Grace turning on Santino Marella.

Santino Marella comes out. He says TNA has fought tooth and nail for this and he knows the roster is ready for all the extra attention. He says he has been distracted lately and has been mad, upset, sad and confused over a loved one turning on him. But he says he still has decisions to make for the company. And now he can’t make mistakes now that he’s on AMC. The board has decided that he could use some assistance for the debut. He’s hesitant, but this person is a good person for the brand. The new assistant is… Sonya Deville (Daria Rae). Alright, that’s pretty cool and probably a good role for her considering she isn’t much of an active talent anymore.

She says she has been watching from afar for many years and that Marella is a pillar of TNA. She hypes up the debut on AMC. She says the one thing this company doesn’t need… is you. She says they don’t need comedic relief, but professionalism. She says the facts are the facts and that she has run locker rooms before… and she understands that she can do Marella’s job better than he can. She tells the audience to shut up. As her first official order of business, she signed a new Knockout to TNA, and it’s…. Elayna Black (Cora Jade). Meh.

AJ Styles talks to Mike Santana and tells him that he was friends with Kazarian, but now he wants Santana to kick his ass and win. Santana says thanks and they shake hands.

Trailer for Dark Winds Season 2.

Personal Concierge comes out and asks for attention. Of course, Perez Hilton is with the Elegance Brand. Called it. Perez said the audience brought their D game. The Personal Concierge says the audience is all degenerate pigs. But they are here to win the Knockouts Tag Team titles again. They spent the past couple of months of research to introduce something new to the Elegance Brand. Time for the unveiling of the newest addition… Mr. Elegance (AJZ). Mr. Elegance says he used to be a nobody but now everyone will be looking at him. Here comes The IInspiration. Well that was certainly a reveal, I sure hope that it is a bait and switch.

Knockouts World Tag Team Titles: The IInspiration (Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee) (c) vs The Elegance Brand (Heather by Elegance & M by Elegance) w/The Personal Concierge, Mr. Elegance & Perez Hilton
Winners (and NEW Knockouts World Tag Team Champions): The Elegance Brand (Heather & M by Elegance)
Lukewarm – Nothing we haven’t seen 500 times before between these two teams. TNA really needs to start repackaging some of these excess Knockouts they have been signing and get them in proper teams to try and salvage this division. I would rather not see the KO Tag Titles go away but if it has to, I would understand. This seems to be it for The IInspiration and it’s a shame they couldn’t do a more proper write off for them.

Arianna Grace says that Stacks will deal with anything that Santino throws his way… for his little girl.

Injury Report: Harley Hudson and Myla Grace are out of action, Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee are cleared, Steve Maclin is out of action and will return next week. Mike Santana is cleared for the match tonight.

Trailer for Night Patrol (featuring CM Punk).

Indi Hartwell says she feels in limbo since the Dog Collar Match but she is ready to fulfill her childhood dream. The Elegance Brand cuts her off and say some actually accomplish their dreams. They threaten to send Hartwell back to Australia. She says she will talk to Santino about a match.

Video package on the importance of the Knockouts Division.

Santino Marella is back in the ring. He introduces Lei Ying Lee. She comes out with Xia Brookside. Marella confirms that Dani Luna will not be able to compete at Genesis. Lee has signed a contract for an open challenge at Genesis. Out comes Zaria and Sol Ruca. They said they were originally here to scope out the KO tag team titles, but now that there’s an open challenge, their interest is piqued. Ruca says that Lee is an amazing warrior, but she has her own warrior and says that Zaria should accept the open challenge. The contract is signed. Not sure why they didn’t just leave this a surprise for Sunday but it is what it is.

Video package on the importance of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Santino Marella says that Leon Slater won’t be here for Genesis due to visa issues. Marella says that Cedric Alexander will face Moose and Joe Hendry at Genesis instead.

Here are The System. Alisha Edwards says The System is on AMC. Eddie says this is a special moment for them. This company means everything to them. Even if there is lots of changes going on, there is one final moment that will live in history, Eddie Edwards vs JDC at Genesis, the final dance. JDC says he his thankful for finishing his career in TNA. He says that it was the best locker room he has ever been in and the TNA crowd is the best crowd. JDC says The System is evolving, and next week LIVE on Impact, he will announce the replacement for him. He tells Eddie that he loves him as a brother and respects him. But he says that he isn’t going out like some punk and that one of them is going to have to pull the trigger first. This has been going on for way too long, this is freaking JDC, not John Cena. I keep thinking back to that Cody Deaner match where he had to win or he’s ‘’fired’’ match that took place in Brampton. TNA tries too hard to make some moments feel huge when they aren’t… while at the same time making the bigger moments not feel big. It doesn’t make sense.

Recap of the Mike Santana/Frankie Kazarian story.

Carlos Silva introduces Dixie Carter (to mixed reception). She thanks everyone for staying tuned in and she is proud of the locker room. This is a very sentimental night for her. Here comes out Bully Ray. They hug.

TNA World Heavyweight Title: Frankie Kazarian (c) vs Mike Santana (Special Guest Commentator: Bully Ray)
Winner (and NEW TNA World Heavyweight Champion): Mike Santana
WARM – A good match, although both guys seemed a bit off tonight for whatever reason which is disappointing, as I know both can go. Santana getting the title is way overdue, and it begs the question as to why he lost it in the first place. Not having Nic Nemeth at least appear with the CYS trophy on the debut show is also a bit weird. But I am glad that this match finished clean. Although I would have appreciated Styles coming out or something as well. But hey, easy payday for him, I guess, to be flown out for a 2-minute promo and two 30-second backstage segments.

Overall Rating:
LUKEWARM – As per usual, this is just another episode in a long list of episodes that is just perfectly acceptable, nothing great, nothing outright terrible, but everything just feels kind of… there. Which can be almost worse in some cases. Especially for a debut show. Silva said they would play it safe and find their footing on the new network before adventuring outside of their safe zone, but I feel like sometimes you just got to risk it for the biscuit. And if they wanted to wrap up stories first (which sort of seems like what they are planning), why not debut after Genesis instead? And do a solid refresh restart at that point? Overall though, the episode wasn’t necessarily bad, it kept me entertained, but if I wasn’t already a TNA fan, I don’t think I would tune back in again.

This Saturday on TNA Genesis:
AJ Francis vs Rich Swann
Ryan Nemeth vs Mara Sade
Cedric Alexander vs Moose vs Joe Hendry
Elijah vs Mustafa Ali
The Last Dance: JDC vs Eddie Edwards

TNA Knockouts World Title: Lei Ying Lee (c) vs Zaria
TNA World Heavyweight Title: Mike Santana (c) vs Frankie Kazarian

We’ll Hear from Elayna Black

Feast or Fired

This Week’s TNA MVP:
And yes, I used to do this before Carlos Silva started it. Maybe that’s proof that he reads this site? I jest.
