There was an opening promo between EC3, Dixie Carter and Drew Galloway. It was a segment that could have taken place at the end of a go-home show in other circumstances. EC3 ran his mouth while Drew cut his usual style of promos. Dixie Carter was comfortable in this segment. After it happened, she announced that if Drew and Matt Hardy beat EC3 and Tyrus later in the night, Matt would be added to BFG on Sunday.
Galloway didn't do the heel thing and throw the match which meant that the main event was changed to a 3-Way at BFG. Dixie Carter stacked the deck against Ethan even more by announcing that Jeff Hardy was the special guest referee for the show.
Having a Triple Threat protects EC3's undefeated streak while also getting the title off of him. It could also protect Galloway for a future feud with better build. I also understand adding both Hardys to the match since the show is in North Carolina.
*James Storm vs Mahabali Shera could have happened at BFG but Storm finished up with the company. It was a below-average No DQ match with a bit of plunder used. Shera is getting better but he is still obviously green in the ring. The match ended when Manik (TJP) and Abyss came out, turned on Storm and everyone hit their finishers. This signaled the conclusion of the Revolution stable. I like the visual nature of the segment as the stable crumbled in front of Storm.
*Roode vs Lashley was made for BFG. The match touches on their history. These two should have main evented last year's Bound For Glory show as they battled over the World Title. One year later, these two will settle their issues over the King of the Mountain Championship.
*I enjoyed the 3-Way X Division Match. It was refreshing having Trevor Lee and Ciampa in this match. At one point, it felt like TNA would be bringing both guys in along with Andrew Everett (set to debut at BFG in Ultimate X). Unfortunately, Ciampa might be bound for WWE instead of Bound For Glory. This was a fun match. It continues to show why bringing in new blood is a good idea for TNA. Ultimate X should be a fun match at BFG.
*There was a pretape with Brooke where she talked about moving forward. Its the same stuff she has been doing but I am glad TNA touched on her character instead of forgetting about her.
*The Dollhouse defeated The Beautiful People in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match that also could have happened at Bound For Glory. Its ironic seeing the Dollhouse being sneakier than the BPs, who used those same shenanigans for years. With Angelina Love down, I wonder if TNA will find a third person to team with Madison and Velvet during this feud.
*The Eric Young segment was the low point for me. EY was over-the-top and felt forced. We have already seen him versus Chris Melendez. Robbie E wasn't great during his delivery either. I'd could go for Mr. Anderson feuding with EY in the future though. This set up EY vs Kurt Angle at BFG though, which makes sense due to their history.
TNAsylum should have Live BFG discussion and results. Please enjoy the show. It could be one of TNA's best this year.
