Jeff Jarrett announced the card for tonight’s show before he was interrupted by Eric Young. Jarrett booked EY in the main event for the King of the Mountain title. Both the TNA and GFW rosters got into a huge brawl to end the segment. What an explosive start to tonight's show. I like how Jarrett prefaced this rivalry as a competition at the highest level, even mentioning the Lakers/Celtics and Yankees/Red Sox as examples. Looking forward to some fresh matchups.
Awesome Kong vs. Lei’D Tapa went to a double count out. This was your typical battle of the giants. Mostly power moves, which they sold well, but nothing special. The double count out finish was okay to protect both women. They're probably gonna go at it again at some point, in a gimmick match or whatever.
Bobby Roode called out Rockstar Spud regarding the latter ending Austin Aries' career. Roode beat the crap out of Spud and put him in the crossface to end the segment. Nice followup from last week. I like how Spud keeps riding this underdog gimmick against the top names in TNA – it’s simple yet effective. Roode came off like a huge asshole and got his edge back. Good stuff.
Lashley defeated Jessie Godderz with the spear in a KOTM qualifier. Solid match, but the finish looked horrible. Jessie looked like he got punched in the gut instead of being speared out of his boots. Lashley is a beast, as usual.
Drew Galloway was laid out backstage and taken to the hospital. Dixie and the Jarretts were talking backstage about finding a replacement for Drew in the main event. Much better than the Bully attack last week. Too bad Sting isn't there anymore, because he would warn Dixie about another deception from Mr. GFW.
EC3 talked about his victory in Full Metal Mayhem before he was interrupted by Matt Hardy. Matt challenged EC3 to a rematch, but EC3 refused as he and Tyrus beat up Matt. I'm okay with Matt in the title picture for a little while; he had a great performance last week, so why not? It looks like Jeff Hardy will get involved to neutralize Tyrus.
The Wolves defeated Trevor Lee and Brian Myers with the Force of Nature. Good match. Loved the back and forth intensity from both teams. Trevor Lee is a hell of a talent, that's for sure. The Wolves looked impressive in a hard fought win for TNA.
Tigre Uno defeated Sonjay Dutt after reversing a top rope hurricanrana into a sunset flip. Eh, it wasn't exactly an X Division match per se, but it was fun while it lasted. What is it about Sonjay that he can never win the big one? The finish came out of nowhere, so that was a bit of a surprise.
PJ Black defeated Eric Young, Lashley, Chris Mordetzky and Robbie E in a King of the Mountain match to become the new KOTM champion. Fun, chaotic match. It kinda sucks that TNA had three guys in this match but still couldn't get back the KOTM title. PJ Black had a good showing; I'm looking forward to seeing more of him on IMPACT.
Overall, I enjoyed tonight's show. Good card, good promos, good action, and a good start to the TNA/GFW rivalry. Trevor Lee and PJ Black were the standout GFW talents tonight, in my opinion. Everyone else did their part and put on a solid performance. Turning Point should be another interesting show next week. Thumbs up.
