Jeff Hardy defeated Eric Young in a solid match. Dixie Carter announced the winner would be added to the World Title main event. EY controlled most of the match and drew some good heat before Jeff made the comeback for the win. I like the three-way stipulation as it leaves the main event wide open.
Matt Hardy came out and tried to persuade Jeff to give up his spot in the main event. Jeff refused and gave Matt a Twist of Fate. Well, if Matt wasn't already in trouble facing EC3, now he's in double trouble against his brother and EC3. Matt's promo was pretty amusing, but it's looking more and more like we'll be crowning a new champion tonight.
Mike Bennett and Maria defeated Drew Galloway and Gail Kim when Maria pinned Gail with a rollup. The men were fired up while the women played their part. That was a clever finish for Maria to pin Gail and play mind games at the same time.
Lashley did an interview with Josh Mathews regarding his actions last week. Lashley beat up Josh and then speared the Pope. Great promo. Lashley came off like a confident badass and solidified his heel turn by picking on the announcers. It's such a simple formula and it works. I'm looking forward to seeing Lashley destroy the TNA roster one by one.
The Decay defeated Beer Money and Eddie Edwards in a six-person tag match when Steve pinned Edwards. Fun match. Rosemary's involvement was limited but worked nicely into the finish. The Decay is such an interesting act right now. Good to see.
Billy Corgan announced a ladder match between Grado and Eli Drake. If Grado wins, he gets a new TNA contract but if Drake wins, Grado is gone.
Grado defeated Eli Drake in a ladder match to earn a TNA contract. Jessie Godderz and Mahabali Shera got involved during the match. Well, fans wanted "new talent" so I guess this is technically new talent. Grado worked his butt off, got the crowd behind him and even did a cool spot leaping off the ladder on the outside. Plus, now that Spud is a villain, Grado is officially the ultimate underdog.
Matt Hardy fought EC3 and Jeff Hardy to a no contest for the World Title. It was a good match while it lasted, but then it turned into a series of run-ins with EY, Bram, Tyrus, Spud and Mike Bennett taking out Jeff and EC3. The chaos was entertaining, though.
Drew Galloway cashed in his Feast or Fired briefcase and defeated Matt Hardy to win the World Title. Wow, what a moment for Drew Galloway! First he beats Kurt in the UK and now he's the new TNA champion. I think the best part is that Matt couldn't weasel his way out after talking smack to the fans. Thank you, Drew. #StandUp for Impact Wrestling!
Overall, I enjoyed tonight's show. There were a lot of fun matches, promos and backstage segments capped off by an fantastic moment for "The Captain". Thumbs up!
