Kurt Angle defeated Bobby Roode in an excellent match. Just straight up, no-nonsense, back and forth wrestling at its finest. Considering how much I loved their feud in 2013, this was a treat for me to watch one last time. #ThankYouAngle
Beer Money and The Wolves paid tribute to Kurt Angle for his contributions to TNA and pro wrestling. Both teams squared off and agreed to a tag title match for next week. Great segment. It was very genuine and emotional for all five guys out there. I also loved the milk toast for Angle, as well the mutual respect between Beer Money and The Wolves.
Matt Hardy talked about his victory over EC3 last week and then brought out Rockstar Spud. Spud explained that he felt disrespected because the fans cheered for EC3 but didn't support him. EC3 interrupted and challenged Spud to a fight later tonight. Good follow-up from last week. Spud was lost in the shuffle for a while, but now looks like a punk with a new attitude. I'm really enjoying this emphasis on characters for most of the roster.
Abyss defeated Jimmy Havoc in a No DQ match. Not as violent as I expected, and Abyss did most of the same spots he always does, but I thought it was a fun spectacle to wrap this angle. Havoc did a nice job going toe to toe with Abyss and looked strong in defeat.
Gail Kim called out Maria for a fight, but Maria refused and put over how famous she is. Gail went after Maria, but Jade laid her out with the Knockouts Title. Sorry Gail - Maria is a lover, not a fighter. I'm actually intrigued by this direction for Gail. She has to defend her title against a hungry opponent while dealing with a nuisance that can push her buttons by just talking. Yes, TNA needs new Knockouts - but for the time being, this is a fun story.
Eric Young defeated Big Damo to retain the King of the Mountain Title. Solid match. Damo was pretty agile for his size, although his performance left a lot to be desired. At least EY defended the KOTM Title against a local talent.
Mike Bennett defeated Drew Galloway following a distraction from Maria. Great match. I was very impressed with the workrate and psychology from both guys. The finish was well done to protect Galloway and push Bennett in their first encounter. Just wait until the animosity builds, then it could be really special.
EC3 beat the crap out of Rockstar Spud in an unsanctioned street fight. Matt Hardy and Tyrus tried to ambush EC3 backstage to no avail. EC3 powerbombed Spud through a table and choked him out to end the show. Damn, that was a hell of a brawl. You could feel the rage from EC3 as he laid out Spud. Kudos to TNA for doing a fresh spin on a near two-year rivalry. Another entertaining show from the UK. Really looking forward to Angle/Lashley and Wolves/Beer Money next week.
