Gail Kim defeated Madison Rayne to score 3 points and advance to the next round. Good back and forth match. That Ninja Queen stuff was cheesy but it's all in good fun. I liked the "do or die" scenario as they got off to a hot start and kept it going throughout the match.
Eli Drake defeated Jessie Godderz to score 3 points. Very entertaining match. As a fan of both guys, I thought they had an interesting dynamic trying to cheat whenever they could. Eli finally outsmarted Jessie by putting his feet on the ropes for a well deserved victory.
The announcers talked about their picks for the WTS Awards. Nothing special. It was a basic analysis/breakdown by Josh and Pope. The winners were Matt Hardy for MVP, Davey/Eddie for Best Match, James Storm for Biggest Disappointment, Mahabali Shera for Most Improved, and Lashley/Aries for Biggest Upcoming Match.
Matt Hardy defeated Eddie Edwards to score 3 points and advance to the next round. Fun match. Eddie put up a good fight, but as expected Matt did a clean sweep of his group. At least the Wolves have been showcased well as singles wrestlers during this tournament.
DJ Z defeated Mandrews to score 3 points. Awesome match. I liked the desperation by Mandrews as he delivered some cool moves to try to win and stay alive in the tournament. DJ Z has been the sleeper hit for the X Division, so that's been a nice surprise as well.
Micah defeated Crimson to score 3 points. This was a highlight instead of the full match. Okay, I'm confused. Why did they cut this match when they still had a lot of time left on the show? Micah/Crimson looked like a decent match that probably lasted 6-8 minutes. I feel bad for Micah having two of his matches cut from the show. Not cool.
TNA announced that the Semi-Finals of the World Title Series will take place in Mumbai, India. Sadly, no other details were mentioned but I'm still looking forward to seeing who walks out as the new champion (assuming they don't drag out the Finals to the UK tour).
EC3 defeated Mr. Anderson to score 3 points and advance to the next round. Solid match. EC3 wasn't going to lose his undefeated streak to someone who's already eliminated from the tournament, so the outcome was predictable. I did like the series of counters leading to the finish. EC3 is definitely a heavy favorite to win the title.
Overall, I enjoyed tonight's show. Nice mix of matches and interviews. The group stage is starting to wind down as we're seeing the true contenders emerge into the Round of 16. I am curious how they're going to sort out the brackets for that, so hopefully we'll find out more next week. The Semi-Finals should be interesting in front of a huge crowd in India.
